MassDOT has a new GreenDOT initiative, and wants to lead the nation in sustainable transportation. Governor Patrick by Executive Order set a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. GreenDOT aims to triple the use of non-auto travel, such as taking commuter rail instead of a car to commute from Worcester to Boston. Team GreenData examines:

  1. Travel time: Auto v. Rail.
  2. Greenhouse gas emissions for each trip
  3. Driver or rider trip cost
  4. Societal cost GHG emitted for each for each trip
