Our Solution

Ceiron and I are great friends and we love to hang out together, but sometimes our parents do not let us because they think we are not hanging out for good reasons like studying or creating a project. So, what better way to solve this than by hanging out together with purpose? As students with a vision for the community, we understand that hanging out can be difficult sometimes at all age levels because there is no occasion or no real purpose. We also understand that the world is facing climate change and it needs our efforts on all levels to help prevent it. As a result, Ceiron and I have drawn these two problems together and created the solution: GreenFriends. With GreenFriends you are able to scout out local community events that are trying to fight climate change such as clean-ups, raking leaves, educational seminars, and more! Once the user logs in, they are able to find a variety of information about the event, its attendees, the location, the contact information of others to make new friends, sustainable transportation options, fun pictures for safe keeping and memories, schedules of everyone and of the location, and more! GreenFriends is the one-stop shop for people of all ages to come together, make new friends, spend time together, and help protect our communities from harmful pollution. And when we say all people of all ages, we mean to include people no matter their disabilities, backgrounds, or history. To accommodate people with disabilities, we created a section where attendees can also find out more about accessibility ratings and options at the site to best plan for the event. Together, as a community with GreenFriends, we are able to fight the small battles that will help the world fight climate change globally. With each event, and each attendee, our communities grow stronger together with stronger bonds and healthier environments for generations to come. At the end of the day, we can sit around complaining about others, but this fight against climate change is one global community fighting for one Earth. It is us against the problem and every step that we take, no matter how small, is a step towards a greener and brighter future. So, by bringing the community together and practicing green habits at fun events, GreenFriends hopes to progress society at the smallest level to make life-changing results.
