I was inspired by how cities often prioritize rapid growth while ignoring long-term environmental consequences, which led me to create Green Tycoon, a strategy game that simulates the balance between economic success and sustainability. Through building it, I learned how small decisions compound over time, both in coding logic and in environmental impact modeling. I developed the project using a simple web-based structure with JavaScript to manage city statistics and cause-and-effect systems, focusing on clear visual feedback for players. One challenge I faced was balancing the game so that sustainable choices were realistic but still rewarding, as well as ensuring the consequences of pollution felt gradual rather than instant, mirroring real-world environmental systems.
