GreenTrace is an imperative project that champions the protection of our environment and empowers individuals to make a tangible impact on the planet. 🌍 Through our revolutionary combination of IoT, AI, and blockchain technologies, we address critical challenges in the carbon credit market, providing transparency, trust, and accountability to climate action projects and individuals seeking to offset their carbon footprint. 🌱💪

Token Marketplace: Our user-friendly frontend provides a dynamic marketplace where individuals and companies can effortlessly purchase or retire carbon credit tokens. 🛒💸 GreenTrace empowers individuals to offset their carbon footprint by integrating that enables users to calculate and offset their carbon emissions from everyday activities such as car rides, public transit trips, or flights. 🚗🚌✈️ With the capabilities of Chainlink Data Feeds, it is possible to facilitate token swaps involving different tokens. 🔃

NFTs and Dashboard: As users actively contribute to carbon offsetting, with Chainlink's automation capabilities, GreenTrace rewards their dedication with Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as a testament to their environmental impact. 🏆🌱 Our intuitive dashboard presents interactive graphs and charts, allowing users to track their progress and witness the positive change they are making. This gamified approach motivates individuals to continuously reduce their carbon footprint and actively participate in the fight against climate change. 📈🌍

Leaderboards: GreenTrace celebrates the accomplishments of companies and climate action projects through our engaging leaderboards. By recognizing the top contributors in carbon credit retirement and carbon credit generation, we foster healthy competition, encouraging greater involvement and inspiring others to join the cause. 🥇🏢🌿

How the solutions works

When joining the Green Trace platform, carbon credit issuing companies start using a monitoring system based on IoT devices installed in their forest reserves. These devices continuously monitor the temperature and humidity, sending the data to a backend deployed on AWS. From there, the information is forwarded to the Cartesi Machine, also on AWS, at regular intervals of one hour.

The Cartesi Machine hosts a pre-trained artificial intelligence model fueled by NASA satellite data, which records the temperature and humidity in various regions. Upon receiving the IoT data, the AI verifies if the information falls within the normal parameters of the region, based on the existing model. Only data that passes through the AI filter and is considered of high quality allows for the issuance of carbon credit tokens.

From the certifiers' perspective, the Green Trace platform provides a dashboard that offers real-time information on the status of forest reserves. This data is verified by the aforementioned artificial intelligence. Through this dashboard, irregularities can be identified, and if necessary, the right of companies to issue carbon credit tokens can be revoked. Additionally, the dashboard allows certifiers to register new companies. For companies themselves, the platform provides a dedicated area for withdrawing values related to the sale of carbon credits.

Individual users have the ability to calculate the amount of carbon they need to offset based on their daily activities, such as flights, car trips, and public transportation usage. The Green Trace platform enables users to exchange carbon credit tokens issued by companies and use them to offset their carbon footprint. By doing so, users receive dynamic NFTs associated with their purchases, certifying their engagement and commitment to the cause.

Finally, Green Trace recognizes the leading contributors to carbon credit reduction and generation through a leaderboard. This approach fosters healthy competition among participants and encourages greater engagement in the environmental sustainability cause.

DISCLAIMER: We encountered issues deploying the Cartesi node on AWS EC2 due to a lack of support for the required RISC-V architecture by Cartesi.
