Inspiration

I wanted to create something that makes sustainability practical and approachable. Climate change often feels overwhelming, but I believe small daily actions can add up to big impact. Green Simplify was born from the idea that technology can guide people toward eco-friendly choices without adding complexity to life.

What it does

Green Simplify helps users track their carbon footprint through common activities (like travel, diet, or energy usage) and provides personalized eco-tips to reduce environmental impact. My goal is to make sustainable living as simple as checking an app.

How I built it

I built a lightweight app with:

  • A clean green-themed interface for eco-tech vibes
  • Activity inputs (transport, food, electricity, etc.) mapped to carbon emission factors
  • A footprint calculator that updates in real time
  • A tips module with practical, rotating eco-friendly suggestions
  • A mock subscription layer (using RevenueCat concept) for premium features like detailed analytics and personalized recommendations

Challenges I ran into

  • Balancing simplicity with impact: I had to decide which features were must-have versus nice-to-have.
  • Data accuracy: Carbon footprint calculations can get very complex, so I simplified the model to keep it fast and user-friendly.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • Designed a user experience that feels approachable, not intimidating.
  • Showcased how sustainability can be integrated into everyday tech with minimal friction.

What I learned

  • Eco-tech is engaging: People respond positively when sustainability is framed as fun and achievable.
