What Inspired Me
GreenSchool was inspired by the idea that schools can play an important role in creating a more sustainable future. Schools consume electricity, water, paper, and other resources every day, but it can be difficult to understand where improvements can be made. I wanted to create a simple tool that helps schools measure their environmental impact and turn that information into practical actions.
What I Learned
While working on GreenSchool, I learned how to turn a real-world environmental problem into a digital solution. I also learned more about sustainability metrics, user-friendly dashboard design, data visualization, and how AI can be used to provide useful recommendations instead of simply generating text.
How I Built My Project
I built GreenSchool as a web-based sustainability dashboard. Users can enter information about areas such as energy, water, waste, and transportation. The project processes this information to generate sustainability scores and identify areas where the school can improve. I used Claude to help with the development, structure, logic, interface, and refinement of the project.
Challenges I Faced
One of the main challenges was deciding how to make the project simple enough for schools to use while still providing meaningful information. I also had to work through problems with the calculations, user interface, and overall presentation. These challenges helped me improve the project step by step and focus on making the final experience clear and practical.
Final Reflection
GreenSchool showed me that technology does not always need to solve a huge problem all at once. Even a simple tool that helps people understand their impact and make better decisions can contribute to a larger environmental goal.
