Inspiration

I have been fascinated by Augmented Reality for a long time now. I really appreciate the work people put into creating something similar to the real-world for the welfare of people. We personally like the monster in Cut The Rope game.

What it does

The effect has the 3D Models of three green monsters who are positioned using a plane tracker in worldAR. Their position is randomly generated. We have introduced a timer in the effect. A person has to use back camera and tap on a monster to kill or make it invisible. Tap on all the monster before the time runs out.

How I built it

1) Thinking about an idea related to Augmented Reality to introduce in our effect was difficult as well as exciting. We took the time to think and progress with it and finally concluded to work on something related to the game. "Who doesn't like games?" 2) We started working on the timer part first. The countdown is an animation sequence of images. 3) We proceeded on choosing a 3D model and then worked on Patch Editor to randomize the position of monsters. 4) We then worked on Object Tapping and connecting it to effect. 5) Lastly, we worked on giving the final touch to the effect.

Challenges I ran into

1) Considering the fact that we are a family and are in the same house, it was easy to work together but still, there were some conflicts in ideas, but we solved them together. 2) We found working with values in Patch Editor a little difficult. It took a lot of time. 3) Going through the documentation and understanding each and every concept was a little time-consuming.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

1) I am proud that I went through each and every video in the documentation of sparkAR, tried them out with my team and realized how with a host of features and learning guides, it’s a good tool to showcase your creativity. 2) We successfully learnt to develop an effect showcasing our creativity and gaming interest and enthusiasm to work on a project together as a team.

What I learned

1) We learnt teamwork and time management. 2) We learnt how to efficiently use sparkAR to develop creative effects.

What's next for Green Monsters

1) It still does not show the Winning message on tapping on all the monsters. We would like to work on that. 2) Sometimes the monsters are not shown in a plain background. We will work on improving it. 3) We want to improve the effect by introducing background music and a theme.
