Inspiration
Green Lens was inspired by the urgent need for accessible tools that help everyday shoppers make sustainable choices easily. The journey began after realizing how complex it can be to understand products’ environmental impacts while shopping, and how small action can collectively drive global change.
What it does
Green Lens empowers users to snap a product photo and instantly receive a simple sustainability score, along with easy-to-understand greener alternatives.
How we built it
Green Lens combines computer vision APIs for fast product identification with a custom sustainability scoring engine, developed using Python and trained on public eco datasets. We built the mobile app using React Native for cross-platform support, then integrated a searchable product database and ethical rating sources. User input was invaluable for interface refinement.
Challenges we ran into

- Bugs encountered in integrating node.js in the code.
- Integrating fetch.ai as an AI agent for deeper research for a better sustainability score
