π‘ Inspiration
Growing up, communities were naturally connected and engaged with their environment. Today, that sense of connection has weakened due to the influence of digitalization . So that we created GreenGo to bring back community engagement and make environmental action local, visible, and achievable.
βοΈ What it does
GreenGo is a platform that helps communities understand and improve their local environment.
- Uses satellite data to analyze vegetation health (NDMI)
- Allows users to upload images of plants and animals
- Uses AI to identify and label biodiversity
- Builds a shared, real-time view of a communityβs ecosystem
- Encourages participation through community engagement
π How we built it
- Frontend: React + Vite for a fast and modern UI
- Backend: Django with REST APIs
- Cloud: AWS for storage and processing
- AI: Computer vision models for plant recognition
- Geospatial: Google Earth Engine for satellite data and NDMI analysis
- Maps: Google Maps / Leaflet for visualization
β οΈ Challenges we ran into
- Integrating cloud-based AI workflows for the first time
- Working with satellite data and geospatial APIs
- Handling limited documentation for mapping tools
- Managing multiple new technologies under tight time constraints
- Now on stage of being tested on local environment
π Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a full-stack application with real-world impact
- Successfully integrated AI and satellite data
- Created a working prototype with a clear use case
- Demonstrated resilience by overcoming technical challenges
π What we learned
- How to work with AI and cloud infrastructure in real projects
- The complexity of geospatial and environmental data systems
- The importance of adaptability and teamwork under pressure
- How to turn an idea into a functional product quickly
π What's next for Green Go
- Add map-based pins for uploaded biodiversity data
- Improve AI accuracy for plant and animal recognition
- Enhance community features and engagement tools
- Scale the platform for real-world deployment
- Expand into mobile applications
