Inspiration
We wanted to create a program that would educate the next generation on how the climate is changing, as they are soon to be the newest stewards of the planet.
What it does
It is similar to a traditional tower defense game, where players can earn money to upgrade their towers and try to survive for as long as they can.
How we built it
We used Godot for the programming and design of the game, and we used piskel app to draw all the sprites.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time coming up with an idea that was doable within the time frame and also impactful on the everyday lives of people. We wanted to make sure that even the very young can learn about climate change and environmental stewardship.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of being able to learn how to use Godot to create paths, and to create buttons and different game interfaces.
What we learned
Many of our team learned how to use Godot, as most of the team had not had much experience with it.
What's next for Green Gardens
We could implement waves of enemies, or different types of towers represent the diverse amount of solutions there have been proposed for climate change.
