Inspiration

Everyone gets this question: Can I recycle this? Can I throw my batteries in trash? How can I get rid of my old desktop? We all want to be eco-friendly but we do not how to dispose certain things responsibly.

What it does

Green Dallas is an Alexa Skill that tells residents of Dallas how to recycle and dispose garbage. Ask Green Dallas what to do with an item you want to trash, and Green Dallas tells you what to do: recycle or trash or drop off at a landfill and transfer center. It also provides details on drop off locations and B O P A (Batteries, Oil , Paint, Antifreeze) mobile and hazardous waste disposal.

I built it using Alexa SDK, AWS and Node.js

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I wanted to build an app that is relevant for EarthDay. City of Dallas maintains a good website on sanitation services and how to recycle. This Alexa skill complements it by providing easy and quick interface. Aamazon Echo is one of the most popular devices with kids. I hope this skill encourages kids and adults who use Amazon echo to lead an eco-friendly life.
