Green Corner - Urban Garden for Newbies

Have you ever felt alone in this ongoing pandemic? We feel you. This is why we created the Green Corner — This application bridges the gap between gardening enthusiasts with local plant merchants, to bring livelihood to your living space, even if you're a complete newbie at gardening.

What it does

GreenCorner is made for the gardening newbies to design your own urban garden with AR, connect to local plant merchants, learn gardening tips, and more.

Explore: see what fellow gardeners have created, and get seasonal plant recommendations most suitable for your living spaces.
Shop: get connected with local plant merchants, and find your ideal indoor garden set-up with Augmented Reality technology. Support local business!
PlantPedia: Learn plant caring tips through Q&A, video tutorials and more. Track your watering and care, and never forget to water your plants again.

How we built it

We followed the design process of research, ideation, prototyping and testing. Our final prototype is built with Adobe XD. Research: We conducted interviews with gardening enthusiasts in our circles. We learned about their pain points and goals, including limited time and spaces to take proper care of their plants. Ideation: We drew inspiration from mobile and web applications we admire. Only picking the most necessary features in our application, we iterated several times to find the sweet spot. Prototyping: visualization using AR isn't easy! Kudos to Tian for learning Adobe Aero on the fly and make it happen for the team. Our final prototype in XD is the brain child after extensive research and testing!

Challenges we ran into

It was a challenging process learning Adobe Aero from scratch, but we made it work! If we're to do this again, time management will be our focus from the get-go.
