Inspiration

The idea for Green Commute was born from the increasing need to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly travel options. Seeing the congestion and pollution in urban areas, I wanted to create a solution that encourages people to choose sustainable modes of transportation like cycling, walking and public transport.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

  1. Data Availability: Accessing real-time public transport data for different regions was challenging.
  2. User Adoption: Encouraging users to switch from personal vehicles to green alternatives required behavioral nudges.
  3. Optimizing Routes: Balancing speed, convenience, and eco-friendliness in commute suggestions was complex.

What we learned

  • The impact of transportation on the environment.
  • User behavior and what motivates people to adopt green commuting habits.
  • Integrating real-time data sources for traffic and public transit information.
  • Optimizing UI/UX for a smooth user experience.
