Inspiration
In our life we commonly see people that don't care about the climate change. This inpired us to do something to help people understand the severity and how to fix it.
What it does
Our game is a city building game, it's grid based and every building can occupy 1 or more tiles. The objective of our game is to make your city complety eco friendly, if you pollute to much you lose. Every building as a type. Every type works in a differt way. The factories pollute very much but make lots of money. The houses pollute very little and make few money. This to types you can upgrade with solar panels. There are the green tiles wich make eco-friendly points, if you reach 100 you win. There are the wind farms and the solar panels, they make many eco-friendly points and lots of money. Every building has a different cost.
How we built it
We used Python as programming language, the IDE was Pycharm and we used pygame. For the graphics we used paint.net
Challenges we ran into
It was challenging make multiple tiles objects because it's very difficult to have 1 tile objects and multiple tiles object at the same time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of finishing in time, we thought that for the deadline we would have a partially done game but we worked hard and we did it.
What we learned
We learned how to create a game with python and pygame, how to create and use a git repository and how to make good textures for a game.
What's next for Green City
We will continue green city also after the hackathon because we think that is a great project and we want to continue it.
