Inspiration
I've seen grocery prices increase in Canada a lot in the past 5 years and I've found that it's hard to find an app or a product that can plan my grocery routes well. The closest I've found is Instacart, but even that doesn't really fulfill every need. Google Shopping nor DoorDash don't really give usable results as users can't sort by PPU.
What it does
GreenCart gives users a clean UI to sort and filter groceries from various stores nearby. Users can see the distance to close stores, sort by PPU and plan their hauls accordingly.
How we built it
Built + designed using Framer, inspired by apps like Google Shopping, Instacart, and DoorDash.
Challenges we ran into
Hard to finish the UI in time and implement every change I wanted. I still didn't add every product I wanted but I got most of it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Got a nice clean UI that combined features from various other products . Also made decent use of the curveball greenish colour.
What we learned
There's not enough time to implement every feature, so you have to make do and focus on perfecting your chosen features. I was thinking of adding a geometric/map viewer but that's beyond the scope of my ability.
What's next for Green Cart
Maybe building it in the summer if there's still not an alternative. I plan to use AI to classify product data scraped from grocery store websites. I personally plan to benefit from this by using it to plan my grocery routes optimally.
