Inspiration
Being stuck at home during this period of school closure can be boring. Therefore, we decided to add some spice in our lives, and others' too! We wanted to teach people how to cook or bake so as to pass time, and we felt creating a website that contains all sorts of recipes will make people's day! Furthermore, we are taking a Food and Design Course in school for the past month or so and we wanted to spread our love for food too!
What it does
This website pulls information from an API using keywords (similar to google search)! Then, it displays the results and users can click on the recipes to learn more! Oh and also, dietary specifications and calories are included!
How we built it
We coded HTML and JavaScript in repl.it!
Challenges we ran into
We are 14 years old this year and have little experience in HTML or JavaScript. We self-taught ourselves these languages and had fun creating a handy website! Along the way, we faced many challenges such as figuring out the syntax (we misspell a lot!) and getting the logic behind the code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Of course, we are very proud of creating our very first website from code! We managed to figure out everything in the end, and actually enjoyed ourselves while coding!
What we learned
We learnt how to research on the web. We needed to try to understand the syntax of the code, and we mastered it in the end!
What's next for great recipes to do at home!
We are planning to add more features like food related articles and quizzes!
