Inspiration

I have always wanted the FINAL budgeting ai app... chatgpt cant see your data... but what if it could...

What it does

Gravy knows everything about your finances. Its studies your data and allows you to get personal insights which a manual app couldn't before.

How we built it

I started with bolt to quickly get the first frames up - and eventually did some tweaking in my code window.

It uses expo and a express js server to be able to respond to the user.

Auth is done via supabase with the db too.

The audio to text uses elevenlabs scribe for fast audio transcription.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the AI to show custom UI components proved a tricky challenge. its a complicated issue.

Also streaming of tokens was a hard problem which was eventually put off to focus on core features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Gravy works with Plaid to use financial data and you can query it with eaaase. Its super helpful and can graph anything you want to learn. It knows way more about your money than you ever will...

What we learned

Security matters - security isnt just a buzzword but it can help get your application into a better codebase state too. Expo is great! Eleven labs is great! Plaid is complicated - but great!

What's next for Gravy

Were going live soon. We have a waitlist up at Gravy Website

Were adding cool features like MCP support - action taking - and exporting graphs and documents we make.

Were also tackling security head on - with an aws port coming - to secure all the data down... We cant launch without it - so if its up... its secure!
