Inspiration
Our Inspiration for Gravity Gary came from the love for 2D platformer Flash games we had as kids.
What it does
Gravity Gary is a 2D platformer puzzle game built in Unity, in which you are trying to get rid of the trash that is polluting your ship.
How we built it
We built it using C# and the Unity Game Engine. We also created all of our own assets including sprites, audio, and animations using Aseprite and BeepBox.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge along the way was the fact that this was the first game that we have developed using Unity, therefore there were a few features of Unity that took us a little while to fully grasp. We also struggled with the deadline a little due to the fact that this is our first Hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of making the gravity rays that shoot across the screen until they hit an occupied tile, as well as all of the assets that we made.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Unity and the game development process as a whole.
What's next for Gravity Gary
Along the way we came up with a lot of great ideas that we unfortunately did not have time to implement, therefore we plan to keep adding more to Gravity Gary in the future and hopefully make it a full game one day.
