Inspiration
We wanted to break into the sustainablity market. Also, roller coasters were fun to ride, and we wanted to incorporate a fun aspect into our project. We wanted to reduce the environmental impact of something that was dear to us.
What it does
It is a sustainable roller coaster powered by kinetic energy. It is lifted up to the top through magnetic levitation and electromagnetic motors, and it races down its path through electromagnets that keep and guide it along its path.
How we built it
We created a model of it in blender.
Challenges we ran into
We had to learn how to animate in blender. Also, one of our teammates became sick, but we wished him well and pulled through! Also, it was difficult to create software with limited programming experience of our team, so we were unable to include code that could've made the project more realistic and applied in the real world
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning to animate on the fly and creating our project quickly. We're also glad that we somewhat implemented our idea with the limited time we had.
What we learned
Animation in Blender and working on a diverse team of individuals with a variety of majors and backgrounds.
What's next for Gravitron by Gamir
A real model to create and integrate the actual coaster with the track using 3D printing. Also, using physics to meet safety standards and figure out the intricacies of power and control systems applied to its movement and bettering a computer simulation of our work.
