Inspiration
Social Isolation problem: Social isolation is a lack of motivation to connect with others. Teens and young adults are the hardest hit during the pandemic. Personally, I found it very difficult to connect to new people or just to do a follow-up with friends during the pandemic.
What it does
It gives people the ability to build a social bond from anywhere at any time. It aims to connect youth to other like-minded youth in a local community setting.
How I built it
Using market research and statistics, I brainstormed and designed the core functionality of the application. I used Framer for prototyping.
Challenges I ran into
Implementing every feature into the prototype was time-consuming. So, this prototype contains two main features: A conversation recommendation system and Catch up for Coffee.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Spot-on features that I designed. Each feature of this application is unique and catered specifically to a problem.
What we learned
Hackathons are about bringing up a solution to a problem; not coding right away. Process for making an application: Problem --> Solution --> Analysis--. Design --> Features --> Screens for each feature
What's next for Gravitate
1.) Create a fully functional application using tools such as Flutter UI, Google Firebase for the backend. 2.)Pitch to angel investors to possibly gain an investment to scale the business (development of enhanced features, marketing, hosting services, hiring a team to manage operations and specific tasks) 3.) Partner with tech companies that can integrate richer APIs or functionality to the application or possibly provide a team to enhance the application.
