Inspiration

We were inspired to create a website that aimed to inform people about the impending environment crisis as we felt that many people were not informed about various facts about topics such as global warming, plastic waste and the loss of biodiversity.

What it does

The website has 3 trivia quizzes where users can learn about plastic waste, global warming and the loss of biodiversity, all caused by the environmental crisis. Users can look around the website to find more information or play the 3 trivia quizzes. There is also a carbon emission map of America in the menu

How we built it

We built the website using html, css and javascript. It is also hosted through GoDaddy. The static pages were created with html and stylized by css while the quiz was created with javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Because this was some of our first times using html and css, we ran into difficulty getting certain elements on a page to be in the right location. This caused us to be set back a little by having to spend a lot of time debugging these issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud getting the website to be fully functional and having a working trivia portion. We are also proud that we were able to embed interesting information such as the carbon emission map to share with our users.

What we learned

Since this was the first hackathon for some of us, we learned the value of project organization and learning how to use git and git branching effectively.

What's next for GrassTouchers Trivia

We hope to add more information and clean up the website further in the future. There is a lot of information we wanted to add but did not have time to. We also wanted to add a point system to the quizzes.
