Inspiration

Financial instability is one of the greatest barriers to progress in developing nations. Hyperinflation destroys savings, limits access to credit, and stunts economic growth. Witnessing the struggles of countries like Honduras, Panama, and Pakistan inspired us to build a solution that combines the power of decentralized finance with the stability of a reserve currency. Our vision is to empower millions by providing access to a reliable, low-cost, and scalable financial system that anyone can use.

What it does

Graphene is a high-yield stablecoin wallet tailored for developing countries. It enables users to:

  • Convert their local currency into stablecoins for safe storage and easy transactions.
  • Earn yield through our proprietary algorithm, which optimizes stablecoin allocation across platforms like Uniswap, Aave, and Compound.
  • Send and receive money instantly with minimal fees, even supporting microtransactions down to sub- cent pricing.
  • With Graphene, users gain access to a financial system that promotes savings, credit-building, and long- term economic stability

How we built it

Wallet Backend: Built a custom wallet from scratch after the open-source platform proved unreliable Algorithm: Developed a dynamic yield optimization algorithm to allocate stablecoins across decentralized finance platform Frontend: Designed a user-friendly mobile interface

Challenges we ran into

On-ramping local currencies: Integrating conversion systems that work reliably in different regions. Building our own wallet: The open-source platform didn’t meet our needs, so we built the wallet from scratch.
