Inspiration
Small museums and non-profits are the heart of our culture, but they are often held back by administrative burnout. Seeing dedicated staff spend more time chasing funding and navigating complex compliance paperwork than driving their actual mission inspired the creation of a tool that acts as a true force multiplier.
What it does
Grantio is a dedicated AI grant department for small organizations. It features a three-agent system:
The Finder: Uses Semantic Search to match abstract mission statements with complex eligibility criteria.
The Strategist: Leverages Gemini’s Reasoning Models to act as a risk analyst, flagging compliance traps like hidden matching fund requirements.
The Writer: Ingests an organization’s "Knowledge Vault" via RAG to generate structured drafts that sound authentic, not robotic.
How we built it
Grantio is built with a React frontend and Supabase backend. The intelligence engine is powered by Google Gemini 3.0, specifically utilizing its reasoning capabilities for risk assessment and its 1M+ token context window to process entire organizational histories for more accurate drafting.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring a "Human-in-the-Loop" design was a top priority. We had to refine our prompts to ensure the AI handled the boilerplate and heavy lifting without stripping away the human expert's ability to polish the final narrative and add the winning touch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully integrated Gemini’s reasoning to identify "hidden" risks in grant criteria—a task that usually takes human experts days—and built a functional, live-ready prototype specifically designed to support the needs of small museums and non-profits.
What we learned
We learned that a massive context window is a game-changer for non-profits. It allows the AI to "remember" years of annual reports and impact metrics simultaneously, ensuring that AI-generated drafts are deeply grounded in the organization's unique voice and history.
What's next for Grantio
The roadmap for Grantio focuses on the granular friction of grant submissions. We are developing precision controls for the "Writer Agent" to automatically adapt narratives to strict word and character counts required by specific grant portals. Additionally, we plan to expand the "Knowledge Vault" to support more diverse impact data, helping small organizations win big funding while reclaiming their time for the missions that matter.
