Inspiration

Many students struggle with grant application due to unclear requirements, scattered information, and complicated forms. We noticed that funding exists, but the process itself is the real barrier. We made Grantify with the porpuse of cutting the long paperwork and the long times

What it does

Gives accurate grants based on the users profile. and helps filling out most of the automated questions leaving the user only with the important questions to answer later, cutting the amount of time spent on a grant by 60%

How we built it

• React Native for a cross-platform mobile experience
• Tailwind / NativeWind for clean and consistent UI styling
• Node.js & TypeScript for backend logic and API handling
• Firebase for authentication, storage, and real-time data
• Gemini API to power AI-driven guidance and explanations
• YellowCake API to fetch and process grant-related data

Challenges we ran into

• the yellow-cake API went down in the middle of the project, making us pivot to scraping-b to make sure we deliver the expected results
• most of the issues were regarding the internet connection when debbugin our react-native on our phones, due to the lack of speed the requests times were also long and would cancel themselfs

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Building a fully functional mobile app within the hackathon timeline
• Successfully integrating multiple APIs and services
• Creating an experience that feels supportive rather than intimidating
• Aligning our technical solution with a meaningful real-world problem

What we learned

The most important things that we learned was to properly work in a team and also to build an app architecture in a very short time How to pivot in real time when something in our code goes wrong, becasue every minute we waste worrying about it will affect us more than to find another solution and start from scratch

What's next for Grantify

• Expanding grant coverage to include international and private funding
• Adding smart deadline reminders and application progress tracking
• Partnering with schools and organizations to reach more students
• Improving personalization with deeper AI-driven recommendations
