Inspired from "Just add Magic" We created a recipe vault called Grandma’s Recipes which is a digital platform created to rescue and preserve handwritten, fading recipes passed down through generations and save them from being forgotten. We took inspiration from the show ‘Just Add Magic’, which is a series about a magical cookbook that has been passed down through generations, where every recipe in the book holds a story. This helped us clearly show us the idea that a recipe is never just about having the right ingredients or right measurements but it is a special bond between people across time. The problem we tried to solve is a prevalent one where most tools nowadays digitize recipes, which strips away the meaning and story behind why this recipe was created in the first place. The solution we came up with is a platform that formats every recipe into a living heirloom where users can input their recipes in a way that feels warm, personal, and nostalgic. Our target audience is mainly adults who have a fear of losing a family member’s culinary legacy, which also includes first and second-generation immigrants whose traditional dishes only exist in their memory, or any young adult who would have witnessed their grandparents cook a recipe using a notecard.
