Inspiration
Many students get late to their classes during the starting weeks of the semester. Our program tries to help them out.
What it does
Displays the shortest path given the starting and the ending rooms in Grainger Hall.
How we built it
React for Frontend and Flask for Backend.
Challenges we ran into
We thought of using the evacuation plans, but then the police department doesn't allow it. We were able to find Grainger's floor plan online, so we just went with it.
We tried to make a cluster at every room in the building for the most precise route, but the rooms were too numerous and small for a program to find them and map them reliantly Made clusters of groups of classrooms instead
Program would cut through walls while finding the shortest path Made more clusters that would force it to go around an edge
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Manually creating grids on the map and then clustering up the rooms and providing a visual representation of the shortest path.
What we learned
Don't brainstorm too long. This isn't about coding.
What's next for Grainger Ranger
Work on the remaining floors and possibly expand the program to other buildings.
