Inspiration

Students today have access to more information than ever before, yet many struggle to make informed decisions about their education and careers. Finding the right degree, university, scholarship, certification, internship, or career path often requires navigating dozens of websites, forums, and resources. As students ourselves, we experienced this challenge firsthand and realized that guidance should be personalized, accessible, and available to everyone—not just those who can afford expensive counseling services. This inspired us to build GradPath AI.

What it does

GradPath AI is an AI-powered academic and career guidance platform that helps students make smarter decisions about their future. The platform analyzes a student’s academic profile, interests, skills, and career goals to generate personalized recommendations and roadmaps.

How we built it

We built GradPath AI using a modern web stack focused on scalability and user experience.

Frontend: React.js for a responsive and interactive interface
Backend: Node.js and Express for API management
Database: Structured student and recommendation data storage
AI Layer: Large Language Models (LLMs) and recommendation systems for personalized guidance
Design: User-centered workflows focused on simplicity and accessibility

The platform combines user profile analysis, recommendation logic, and AI-generated insights to create customized guidance for each student.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was transforming broad educational and career information into personalized recommendations. Different students have unique goals, academic backgrounds, and constraints, making one-size-fits-all advice ineffective.

We also faced challenges in:

Balancing personalization with usability
