Inspiration
Design an application that can help the aging community overcome the challenges of everyday life, taking steps against ageism while encouraging interaction between generations.
What it does
A friendlier phone, not a dumb one! Grandroid helps reduce clutter and acts as a training program for smartphones.
How we built it
Our app will be built using Android Studio. Currently, we are still in the learning phase of using the software.
Challenges we ran into
As a non-technical team, we only had two members of the team with software development knowledge. Neither of them had done any app development. We spent a very long time learning how to use the tool, as well as how to attach it to github so we could work collaboratively. We decided to sideline prototype production, and instead focus on figuring out what features were most important.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a feasable working concept designed to help people Learning about app development
What we learned
Beginning to use Android Studio - What goes into building an app? What is possible to do in Android OS
What's next for Grandroid
1) Building the application prototype 2) Testing with our target audience 3) Implementing goal features (Create launcher/theme to go with app, follow-along companion app, split screen instruction app) 4) App Security 5) Market
