Inspiration
In recent years, student loan debt in the United States has surged dramatically, establishing itself as one of the most substantial forms of consumer borrowing nationwide. Many college graduates are growing concerned about being unable to pay off their debt after entering the job market.
What it does
This app allows college students and parents to manage their money safely and efficiently. Users can categorize their expenses such as rent, groceries, textbooks, and entertainment. Users can also set weekly and monthly budgets for these different categories to help them track their progress toward their end goal. Additionally, notifications will be sent out to users for upcoming payments to ensure no deadlines are missed and personalized insights based on the user’s spending patterns to help make informed financial decisions.
How we built it
We used Java, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap for reference and styling.
Challenges we ran into
Coding everything into the given time range was relatively difficult as the website required a lot of refreshing and restarting.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the idea we formed in such a restricted amount of time and our ability to make this website.
What we learned
We learned how much of an impact student loan and student loan debt have on the ever-growing economy.
What's next for GradGrind
We would be happy to expand our website to an international level and support multiple currencies for international students or travelers studying abroad. Having a secure account sync can enable users to securely link their bank accounts or credit cards to automatically track transactions and balances.
