Gradeling

Inspiration

This app was inspired by a friend who is an English teacher with multiple kids' essays to grade. She always needed to leave family functions early since the grading process is quite manual and time-consuming.

What it does

It automatically grades essays for spelling, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuations. It then provides a grade according to a custom set rubric.

How we built it

We built using Anthropic's Cluade .

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was incorporating Amazon Textract to allow scanning and extracting text from physical documents and having to rethink the application since this sync up was not possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to have for the first time been able to complete this coding challenge and build a functioning app.

What we learned

I learned a lot about different LLMs and how to set parameters for randomness and creativity.

What's next for Gradeling

I'd like to take this idea to the next level by incorporating Amazon Textract for scanning and expanding functionality across other subjects. Pitching to local schools and having teachers text the app and provide feedback.
