Inspiration
The play-to-earn space is saturated with far too many crypto kitties knock-offs. With the rapid expansion of this space, innovative projects are being drowned out by half-baked cookie-cutter projects looking for a quick cash grab from their communities. Most play-to-earn games are simply not fun and poorly developed or focus entirely on Tokenomics. Everyone is essentially playing a game of hot potato trying to sell their newly breaded NFTs. All of this makes it hard to actually make money playing games, which is the whole point. Imagine a platform where you can make a livable wage easily from playing games online. Games where cryptocurrency is immediately sent to your wallet with no stupid withdrawal thresholds or long wait times. A platform where you get paid for your skills alone. Good at Chess? bet on it, and get paid in 7 moves.
What it does
G-play enables you to stake polygon against friends/family/ or the world and battle online in a decentralized fashion, with no stupid withdrawal thresholds, wait times, or staking limit. Let your skills earn for you. The platform will host dozens of tried and true classics at first and quickly build to large complex games all following an escrow protocol
How we built it
The project was built using barebones HTML and CSS with vanilla javascript, coupled with AWS services like lambda for multiplayer experiences
Challenges we ran into
Along the way in building this project, we faced many challenges and surely will face more. In the beginning, many of the project's features we didn't know, including but not limited to creating multiplayer experiences, and object-originated programming issues when it comes to developing games.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is extremely proud of the manifestation of our vision in creating a retro-style arcade project with a new-age web3 spin. We have been able to change the lives of many gamers overseas by creating a platform to earn crypto easily
What we learned
We learned just how essential having a community that will support you through your endeavors is. Gplay was born and raised in Miami in the womb of the amazing Miami tech family/ecosystem.
What's next for Gplaystudios
Gplaystudios' plan for the future is to triple down on community building for our project and shine a brighter light on play-to-earn games. Gplay hopes to lower the barrier to entry for crypto games and break the stigma surrounding all things crypto gaming. Gplay will be an epicenter for skill-based play to earn games around the world. Adding more games, and inviting more people to share in our vision, is the mission
