Inspirations

My main inspirations for this piece, and the loose game concept tied with it, are Bloodborne and Castlevania. I've constantly been inspired by the gothic architecture and supernatural themes of both games, and their ability to still base their fantasies in a realistic world. The beasts and story of specifically Bloodborne are unsightly and grotesque, yet conceivable and human.

Anyway, a common theme within both games are their questionable characters, and I wanted this "protagonist" to stand out without an indication of "this is the hero," but rather, someone else.

Challenges

I wanted this piece and environment in particular to purely be comprised of red and teal, as well as stylized. Thankfully, the coloring limitations I had set gave way to the stylistic designs, though playing with the values and depth of the piece proved to be very challenging.
