Inspiration

COVID-19 has caused many small businesses to shut down making it difficult for many local consumers to shop locally. Many people rely on large companies such as Amazon, forcing the consumer to deal with long shipping times, expensive shipping fees and no support to the local businesses.

What it does

GOOMON connects businesses to consumers. Business owners can put their business up for consumers on GOOMON to view and shop locally.

How I built it

Using Swift, we coded an app that would best bring a pleasurable user experience. With GOOMON's color scheme, we coded rounded buttons and minimalistic screens, focusing on the UI/UX. Furthermore, by implementing GOOMON's missions, we ensured that all screens were straightforward and easy to navigate to. For the website, we used repl.it. We first coded the basic structure and layout of all the images and text. After that, we just filled in the text and changed the images.

Challenges I ran into

For the app, it was difficult to work around the small bugs for the constraints, causing some texts to be on top of each other. However, we were later able to work around it once we created fixed constraints for each screen.

What I learned

As being on a team from all over the nation and Canada, we learned a lot about communication. It was hard at first, but by the second day, we could easily communicate and share our ideas.

What's next for GOOMON

In order for GOOMON to be successful. We need to start building a consumer and business base. We would also like to add a messaging platform for customers and owners to communicate with each other to better schedule pick up times for product purchases. We would also like to implement location sharing, to further match consumers with nearby businesses.
