Inspiration
We were inspired by learning about all the little things that can make a big environmental difference. Buying local produce, taking shorter showers, and reusing instead of wasting are all really simple ways to make a big difference. We thought that by leveraging technology we could inspire and create communities around these goals.
What it does
GoodGreen is a social media app that allows for keeping track of environmental goals, both premade and user-generated. Users can add other people, join challenges, and see what their fellow users are up to. Users can see other users' pages and what challenges they're doing, and search for challenges and users.
How we built it
We used Swift, and the new SwiftUI for front end code, learning about the SwiftUI on the fly.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't know SwiftUI going into this project, so there was a lot of trial and error with the language, learning and experimenting as we went. We ran into a plethora of issues with regard to syntax and compiler errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud of what we were able to accomplish given that we didn't know the language very well. We're very happy with the design, the onBoarding process, and the backend.
What we learned
We learned a lot about SwiftUI, team collaboration, and project management. We also expanded our time management capabilities.
What's next for GoodGreen
We hope to refine the project even more in the future, making it smoother and refining things we didn't have time to this weekend.
