Inspiration
I was inspired by food delivery platforms like Meesho and Swiggy, where multiple sellers list their food items, and buyers can easily browse and order. I wanted to build a multi-seller platform where small food businesses could showcase their menus, and buyers could have a seamless experience ordering food. The idea of creating a platform that connects buyers and sellers efficiently motivated me to start this project.
What it does
GoodFood is a multi-seller food delivery platform that allows: Buyers to register, browse menus, place orders, like items, and leave feedback. Sellers to manage their menu, track orders, and receive real-time notifications. The platform ensures a smooth and secure experience with features like email verification, JWT authentication, and live updates.
How I built it
Planning & Designing – I started with a basic feature list for buyers and sellers. Frontend Development – I created a clean UI for buyers and sellers using React.js and Redux, ensuring smooth navigation. Backend Development – I built the authentication system, API routes, order management, and feedback system using Node.js and Express. Database Setup – I structured the database in MongoDB Atlas, handling users, orders, products, and feedback efficiently. Testing & Debugging – I used Postman for API testing and fix bugs.
Challenges I ran into
Email Verification Setup – Implementing the 6-digit verification code system for email authentication was tricky. Tracking Seller Views – Counting views correctly when a buyer interacts with a product took some time to figure out. Real-time Order Tracking – Keeping the UI updated with real-time order status changes was challenging.
What I learned
Working on GoodFood has been a great learning experience. I gained hands-on experience with: MERN Stack Development – Building a full-stack application with React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. Authentication & Security – Implementing JWT-based authentication and email verification with a 6-digit code. State Management with Redux – Managing global state effectively for liked items, orders, and user authentication. File Uploads with Multer – Handling image uploads for feedback and seller menus. Real-time Features – Implementing live order tracking and seller notifications.
What's next for GoodFood
Online Payments – Adding payment gateway integration (Stripe, UPI). Dashboard – Adding an analytics dashboard for tracking orders, sellers, and revenue.
