Good Samaritan App Using MapMyIndia - emergency response system Summary: Sometimes the ambulance or the police can't reach the site of emergency on time. In cases like these if people in the vicinity step up to help lives can be saved. Our app helps inform people in the area that an emergency is occurring and if willing gives them directions to help the person in distress     • An app that allows users to request help from other users in the vicinity during an emergency   • In case of an emergency the user has to press the power button 4 times to activate the app and send an alert to all the users of the app in x-km radius (determined by density of users in the area. Will also be progressively increased if no hits occur)
o Along with the alert relevant authorities are also notified (police/ambulance)   • Once the app is open an alert is sent out: if possible, the user in distress can mention the type of emergency (medical/domestic etc). // this can be useful as a person with relevant knowledge can come to help. Ex: nurse/doctor in the area for a medical emergency   • The alert is only sent to users who have a "I want to help" option enabled (We can add a feature to automatically enable this option during certain times of the day when the user is free)   • If any of the users that receive the alert are willing to help. They press the "I will respond to this situation" button. This user is the Good Samaritan.   • The Good Samaritan is given directions to the distressed user's location using MapMyIndia   • Using MapMyIndia the user in distress as well as the other users can track the Good Samaritan.   • On reaching the site of emergency depending on the type of emergency the app will suggest courses of action to the Good Samaritan: o Medical emergencies: • Suggest nearest hospitals. // MapMyIndia • Suggest basic first aid • Calls ambulance o Domestic emergencies • Lists out nearest police station and directions to nearest police station // MapMyIndia • Calls police • Once action has been taken another alert is sent that says "The situation has been taken care of"   • The app will have to screen the users to prevent malicious people from taking advantage of the situation. // Improvement needed in this area
