The Good Neighbor Fund is dedicated to empowering early-stage startups, fostering innovation, and driving community growth. To grow the impact and sustainability of their efforts, we've designed two transformative initiatives: the introduction of new reporting metrics through an impact survey and the launch of our Alumni Network.

In order to ensure Transparency and Accountability among donors and recipients, GNF needs comprehensive information about the financial progress and community impact they’ve created. The current "no strings attached" contracts are insufficient to inspire confidence among current and future donors and demonstrate their contributions' tangible impact.

Our proposal is adding just one string: Recipients must now submit a brief financial report and a one-minute video detailing their recent accomplishments. This information will be requested quarterly for a year after receiving the grant. Each survey is designed to take less than 15 minutes to complete. This “impact survey” ensures that GNF has enough information to encourage future donations.

Quantitative metrics are gross profit, revenue growth, new jobs created, customer base growth, and economic initiative. These financial metrics help measure the economic impact of a micro-grant. On the qualitative side, we hope to track founder well-being and burnout, in addition to GNF's community engagement and support levels. This information is crucial to understanding and effectively communicating donors' success and contributions.

These requirements ensure clear, transparent evidence of the grant's impact, increasing donor confidence and encouraging continued support. The impact survey also creates significant marketing and fundraising opportunities, helping tell the inspiring stories of under-represented founders. Further, this program can easily be integrated into GNF’s current tracking software, AirTable.

Another core pillar of the GNF is creating community engagement. Our proposed Alumni Network aims to create a vibrant startup ecosystem where past grant recipients give back, mentor new entrepreneurs, and contribute to the program's growth.

Alumni will provide invaluable insight to new recipients, sharing their experiences and guiding them through the challenges of early-stage startups. An online platform will facilitate meaningful connections, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. Virtual interviews, webinars, and in-person coffee chats could all provide mentorship opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs.

This program also opens the doors to new fundraising opportunities. In the future, established founders will have the opportunity to participate in a giveback program. This program would encourage alumni to give back financially, supporting new microgrants and expanding the reach of the GNF.

The new micro-grant requirements, including enhanced financial, personal, and community metrics, and our proposed Alumni Network represent significant steps in enhancing the Good Neighbor Fund's impact and sustainability. These initiatives would help develop a stronger, more supportive community for early-stage startups and demonstrate the real-world impact of our grants to our generous donors.
