Grandma of one of us tried to purchase Christmas lights, but she was scammed 3 times with faulty products, so we made an AI agent that looks at way more offers than any human would, and chooses the best one.
What it does
Gong is an AI shopping agent that finds products across e-commerce stores and can purchase them when the user asks.
How we built it
We built a conversational interface that understands shopping requests, searches across online stores, compares relevant products, and guides the purchase flow.
Challenges we ran into
Working with inconsistent product data, comparing prices and variants across stores, and making automated purchasing reliable while keeping the user in control.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We turned a multi-step shopping process into a simple request: tell Gong what you want, and it finds the best options and can handle the purchase.
What we learned
Shopping agents need to balance autonomy with transparency. Clear product information, user confirmation, and reliable handling of edge cases are essential.
What's next for Gong
We plan to improve store coverage, product recommendations, price tracking, personalized preferences, and more seamless checkout experiences.
