Inspiration

When people move to a new area, or are looking to shop more sustainably in general, it can be hard to find sustainable local businesses.

What it does

Our app is a peer2peer app that lets users upload local businesses that they have started or want to promote in the area, and lets consumers looking to support these businesses view by product or by category, allowing them to contact and interact with these local businesses

How we built it

We used Django and Python for the backend/database, and coded the frontend with HTML/CSS

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of different technologies we could have used but weren't super comfortable with. We also had trouble solidifying our vision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building out a functional and slick web app that achieves our purpose.

What we learned

We learned how to manage our time effectively, as well as how to use essential backend and frontend technologies.

What's next for GoLocal

Implementing a survey/matching algorithm to connect users to local businesses that they might like, as well as providing a sustainability calculation as to how much they're saving the environment by making purchases with these companies
