We've never really seen a hack that's been really interactive, so we decided to do something based around that. We decided to do a treasure hunt around the St James Church because we thought it would be fun!
What it does
You have to first text "Enrol" to 02033222723, it'll ask you for a user name and then give you your first clue, the clues are found on pieces of paper and have a bunch of letters on them: "abcde". Once you get to the end you must name the track that you hear when the number calls you.
How we built it
We used the twillio API as the main focus and worked around that with PHP, SQL and the Spotify web API for the track clip.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We've found that the system we build is easily deployable in any situation. So it could be adapted to, for example, get first year students doing a treasure hunt around campus to get to grips with the layout.
What we learned
We learnt how to use the spotify, and 2 of our team hadn't been to a hackathon before so they got to find out just how much fun it can be!
What's next for GoldQuest
We will probably deploy it at Middlesex University for first year student as we talked about in "Accomplishments".
