Inspiration
We've always been interested in investing in stocks, but we have not had any idea how to start. By creating our project, we have a better grasp of economics and investment and hope to help others too.
What it does
There is a questionnare that analyzes the the user's risk tolerance, which is basically how willing they are to take risks in investing. High tolerance means more risk and low tolerance means less risk. We compare how much you make in savings accounts compared to the trend of different stocks, allowing the user to make an informed decision on where to invest their money. It can also teach the user how different savings accounts benefit them and how to look at the stock market.
How we built it
We used the language Python in order to construct our project. For the graphs of the companies' stocks, we used an API.
Challenges we ran into
This is every member's first hackathon so we had trouble planning at first. And the only language we all know is Python. We tried to use Velo by Wix, but struggled without the knowledge of Javascript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished on time and did not give up even though it was our first hackathon!!!!!! And we used an API which is our first time doing so.
What we learned
How to apply datasets to the same fill, how to use an API, and collaborate with others for a coding project, which is a skill we will be able to use in the workplace.
What's next for Goldman Sachs Challenge
Next we will focus more on the risk factors that will affect the stock market, and potentially investing in treasury bonds.
