GoldenTalks began as a simple idea shared among a group of Wilfrid Laurier students who wanted a better way to stay connected on campus. Students were using scattered group chats, social media pages, and outdated forums, which made it difficult to find information, meet people, or share what was happening around them. Our team set out to build a unified digital space designed specifically for Laurier students and the daily rhythm of campus life.

GoldenTalks grew from a small prototype into a full community platform that supports academic collaboration, social interaction, and student‑to‑student exchange. The blog system allows students to share experiences, academic insights, and campus updates. The marketplace gives students a safe place to buy and sell textbooks, furniture, and essentials. Real time messaging helps students connect directly, while the search system ties everything together by making posts, listings, and profiles easy to discover.

The platform is built with a modern and scalable stack that includes React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind, shadcn UI components, and Supabase for authentication, data storage, and real time features. Throughout development, we focused on usability, security, and a smooth experience across all features. GoldenTalks represents a student built solution created to make campus life more connected, accessible, and collaborative.
