Inspiration
We were inspired by our difficulties in creating a sustainable daily schedule in college. So we decided to make organizing our day, a whole lot more entertaining by incorporating a game.
What it does
It is a website that first displays options for the user to choose their small business from. The event planner at the top asks for four events and for the amount of time that the user thinks completing each task will take them. It then calculates how many hours the user should work on it per day until it is due.
How we built it
We built this event scheduler using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to help users to plan their work hours for multiple events. The interface allows users to input the information about the event, include due days and work hours. When the users click the "calculate Schedule" button is clicked, a JavaScript function processes the inputs. Additionally, we implemented validation to prevent errors from the invalid inputs, making the tool user-friendly and functional. We also used AI tools (ChatGPT and Gemini) to help us to debug and modify the code to run properly.
Challenges we ran into
We knew what we wanted to do pretty early, but as beginners, we found it really difficult to make our ideas into a reality. We really struggled with making the gamified-daily planner interactive for the user.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud of the mini-user interactive daily schedule planner and the overall aesthetics of the site.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize GitHub with Copilot, Gemini, and how to effectively communicate and collaborate as a team.
What's next for Task Tycoon
Our future goals for Task Tycoon include developing it into an app, and make it much more interactive. Especially the gaming aspect of our idea.
