Problem statement : People are unaware of how much using their car can affect the environment, so there should be an app that can help people understand the effect using their cars can have on the environment.

Research background : 80-90% of a car's environmental impact comes from fuel consumption, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Cars are a major contributor to air pollution, producing large amounts of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxides, and particulate matter. CO2 emissions from 1 gallon of gasoline: 8,887 grams of CO2/gallon CO2 emissions from 1 gallon of diesel: 10,180 grams of CO2/gallon A typical passenger car emits approximately 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. Burning one gallon of gasoline produces approximately 8,887 grams of CO2. In addition to carbon dioxide (CO2), cars produce methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) from exhaust pipes, and hydrofluorocarbon from air conditioning system leaks. The emissions of these gasses are small compared to CO2. The impact of these emissions can be significant due to their higher global warming potential than CO2.

Purpose : We believe there is still hope for the planet. We are hoping to raise awareness for the amount of emissions that people driving everyday give off. Our app starts a timer when you drive, and tracks emissions. We advertise eco-friendly car options, to help the world and raise money through ad revenue.
