Inspiration
We are a group of students with different backgrounds and limited programming experiences. As exchange and transfer students, we found it challenging to build a strong connection with new people, to solve this, we want to create a platform where users can easily match up with people who share similar interests.
What it does
We use simple questions to identify users' common interests and match them through an API platform. Our back end provides social media account suggestions for users and hiking trails recommendations. And the whole process takes only 5 mins!
How we built it
This is just a prototype that we built by html/css/javascript/php/MySQL. We are still in the process of embedding API into our platform.
Challenges we ran into
It's challenging to build a website from scratch with a prior background. Also, we couldn't figure out how to retrieve data from our SQL database for the purpose of matching users using similar traits.
