Inspiration

We were inspired by the theme of exploration to better explore our communities and the events and new people that we can reach out to.

What it does

Our web app uses a map where users can drop markers with information about events, sports games, parties, bar nights etc. The goal here is to inform users of nearby events and allow them to connect with others by posting their own events as well.

How we built it

We built our project in javascript. We utilized the leaflet library for the map, and used express for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Leaflet was a library that we had never seen before and it took a long time to get used to using it. Furthermore, integrating it within our project was no easy task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating an interesting project that we're actually passionate about and have plans on continuing work on it in the future. We believe we did a great job creating a complex and unique web app.

What we learned

We learned a lot, especially about integrating multiple different parts of the project to create the final product. This was not an easy process, but we learned a lot of transferrable knowledge through this process.

What's next for GoHere

We have plans to add a couple more features to GoHere that we didn't have the time to add within the hackathon. We wish to have a user verification system for making and removing posts along as adding a chat feature.
