Inspiration
We came to the realization that Barcelona is a very polluted city. To help with that, we wanted to create a mobile app that allowed custumers to have different options. Basically, we want them to take better decisions regarding where they want to take a walk, go cycling, enjoy some quiet time in the park or eating more nutritious food.
What it does
There's a main screen where you can choose from various options. The first one, it shows ecologically friendly stores in a map. There's other that shows green parks around your location.
How we built it
With Android Studio, using online material. We split into two groups to make smaller amounts of work each.
Challenges we ran into
First of all, our original plan was making a database with all the information we wanted to show in the app. The problem was reading it with Android Studio so we opted for an easier option, which was just declaring a few representative places, to show how it could work. Then, our plan was to read the data given by the sensors of CO2 around the city, and using that information to decide what rutes would be better at any given time. However, we weren't able to find it and put it into our code. Also, we wanted to offer different rutes around the city, contemplating CO2 pollution and green zones. However, we weren't able to find how to offer which rutes were closer to our location, since the rute is not a point and it was very complex for us to program that.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It's the first time we finished a project that we started during the hackathon. Usually we run out of time and we are not able to meet a certain standard.
What we learned
That making a project takes a lot of time, patience and confidence on the product. And even though the result is not the firstly planned, there's still room for nice coding.
What's next for GoHealth
Most of what's next, would be the issues we faced. We should solve them to have an app that all the users could handle easily, that would give them a lot of information and with a big database. Also, we would like to see the users be able to post new locations that might not be the ones that we thought of. Finally, we thought that it would also be nice if the costumers had a personalized part, where they could post their favourite spots and locations. To live their life healthier and happier.
