Inspiration
We wanted to implement NFC technologies in a real-life usable project while encouraging the use of public transport.
What it does
It has a system for giving eco-points as you save gCO2 going somewhere by public transport instead of by car, it measures the distance between 2 points located by a NFC tag in the train stations.
How we built it
Using databases from Open Data BCN in order to map the ids of the nfc tags with a real location (latitude,longitude) and name of the station and then sending this location to a Google API in order to receive the distance in Km. Also we use firebase to register the travels of every user and the user information itself.
Challenges we ran into
Usage of new technologies with no knowledge of them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having built a functional and useful app that maybe I would use if it was published as a user.
What we learned
We Improved coding skills and learn how new technologies for us such as NFC, Firebase and some other API's works.
What's next for GoGreen
Implement ecopoints as Ethereum sub-coin.
