Godzilla Retires

Japanese superstar Godzilla rises to the top of Japan's motion picture industry, despite his diva-like behavior. Episode 5 of the AI mockumentary series "News on the Loose."

I was a fan of Godzilla since I built a plastic Aurora model of Godzilla as a child and saw the original 1954 Toho movie. After moving to Japan as an adult and working as a TV cameraman, I met the two original actors who played Godzilla in the 1950s-1980s. One of them also went to North Korea to star in a giant monster movie produced by leader Kim Jong-il. I also went to North Korea on multiple work assignments, and this all inspired me to make this movie!

After writing the screenplay, I used ElevenLabs to create the narrator's voice and then mostly used Midjourney, Photoshop, VEO3, and Grok to make the shots for the video, which was edited with Adobe Premiere.

Every shot is a challenge! But lots of issues with prompts getting rejected by VEO3 and having to do creative workarounds.

I've made ten short movies in the past two months, every one is a learning experience, pushing skills and techniques as the apps get more and more incredible!
