Inspiration
What helps you EXPLORE THE UNKNOWN? Rockets!
The Shader Workshop on Saturday morning. Had fun playing with GLSL code and did lots of mini shader tutorials.
What it does
It's a simple rocket particle effect. Another random experiment image is shown too.
How we built it
Using Godot 4 beta 16. GPU Particles -> Tangential Velocity -> Color Add -> Color Ramp = alpha, white, yellow, orange, alpha. This was built very quickly after a lot of tinkering. I'd say this sort of thing could be done in about 5 minutes once you have an idea of what you're doing.
Challenges we ran into
It was tricky figuring out how to properly use the various built-ins and interact with Godot code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It was fun seeing the spiral with GLSL code.
What we learned
Lots of little things in GLSL and Godot that are hard to mention (I read the manuals).
What's next for Godot Engine Spray Shader
More playing with shaders! They're the best!
Have fun too!
Definitely check out Godot and itch.io game jams!
